Check in: Loews Royal Pacific Resort, Orlando, USA

Somewhere in the French Polynesia or in Bora Bora: this is how I felt when we checked in at the Loews Royal Pacific Resort in Orlando. One has to pass through a small wooden bridge above a garden that looks like it's in somewhere exotic in Asia, such as Thailand or the Philippines, to enter the grand lobby of the hotel where we were welcomed with Hawaiian Leis. Just outside the lobby, a garden with a huge fountain with elephant statues in the center looked like a zen paradise amidst so many tourists and the hustle of Orlando.

Our room was also exquisite: the furniture in different shades of gray made everything look sophisticated and contrasted with the purple orchids wallpaper that formed a frame for the king size bed. The best of the room was, however, the view of the pool, which most resembled a small beach surrounded by typical Bali umbrellas, the so-called "tedung". Even the bathroom was beautiful, with a mirror that looked like the sun.

The hotel also had several restaurants, including the Orchid Court Lounge & Sushi Bar, with the delicious Royal Orchid Mai Tai - its signature cocktail. However, the crucial factor for our stay at the Loews Royal Pacific was that, because they are an Universal Resort partner, guests are entitled to a few unique and very interesting benefits, such as the Universal Express Unlimited pass, which allowed us to skip the line to park attractions and the Early Park Admission, which allowed us a one-hour earlier admission to Universal parks. In addition, we were also entitled to a boat transfer. That's right, a boat, also in the southern Pacific islands style, would pick us up at the resort and take us to the park (and vice versa).

The only down side of Loews is, like all other resorts, the impression of being part of a mass tourism, as the resort is huge and packed with guests. Still, Loews' comfort, décor and services bring up the "I want to go back" feeling.
