The lazy guide to Cancun, Mexico

Travelling to Mexico has always been one of my dreams. This country that is so colorful, cheerful, warm and full of culture did not disappoint when I realized this dream and spent a few days in Cancun. Since it's a super touristic place, you can do many activities while in Cancun, such as going to Playa del Carmen, swimming with dolphins, swimming in a cenote, spending the day in one of the several water parks such as Xel-Há or Xcaret among many other things. However, if you really want to relax and enjoy your vacation in a, let's say, lazy way, the list below is perfect for you! So, without further ado, here are my suggestions for super easygoing activities to do in Cancun:

Eat tacos all day long until you reach the physical shape of a Mariachi
Mexican cuisine is my absolute favorite. Everything that mixes meat, rice, beans, cheese, salad and a tortilla can not go wrong. Not to mention the churros and the fact that just like Brazilians, they also eat lots of dulce de leche and condensed milk. Mexico is not a place to worry about your fitness and this is wonderful.

Visit the Mayan ruins and melt in the sun like a lizard
The state where Cancun is located has several Mayan ruins. In addition to taking a tour of these places and breathing culture you will also be in the midst of nature and millions of lizards. But drink plenty of water and get sunscreen, the 40 degree heat is not for everyone (yes, I'm talking about my super-German husband who needed several breaks under the trees not to faint).

Spend a day in Tulum and don't worry about using filters on photos
Tulum was a little known beach until discovered by "influencers" of Instagram. Even so, the beach is a true paradise and probably has the most crystal clear water I have ever seen. The best thing is that it's close to Cancun and you can do a one day roundtrip.

Buy a souvenir about Dia de los Muertos because you are also culture
Dia de los Muertos is one of the largest Mexican festivities, and most local craft shops sell super-colourful skulls in celebration of those who died. Only Mexicans are able to make something sad look like a fiesta!

Make a prayer to Guadalupe and remember Mexican soap operas while praying
Guadalupe is the protector of the country and you will find the image of the saint in several places. However, it's a little bit difficult to pray without remembering Mexican soap operas. Even so, renew your faith and be thankful for visiting this amazing destination.

Enjoy the open bar of an all inclusive resort laughing at the gringo shrimps
Cancun's resorts are home to one of the most interesting animals in the world: American "shrimps" - this is how Brazilians call people who get an orange/ red tan -. They are roasting in the sun and drinking from morning until night. And yes, all inclusive in Mexico means that cocktails like Sex on the Beach are part of the package.

Dance not so despacito in a crazy club
The clubs of Cancun are a case apart. With names like "La Vaquita", they are completely crowded and in more open areas, which means that one club fights with the other to see who has the highest volume and the most...*exotic* dancers.

Go top less on the beach and feel a mix of freedom with shame with the greatest joy you've felt in life up until that moment
Going top less is legal in Mexico. Be happy and walk on the sand with no shame showing off two of your best attributes. Finally I knew what it's like to be every man on a hot day: it's great!

¡Me encanta Mexico!
